As intuitive beings, we often fear the unknown - what exactly will we see or experience when we open ourselves up to our intuition? This is a very common and understandable fear. We are comfortable with the familiar, the patterns, the known. The unknown can be downright scary, like jumping into a dark room or walking through a haunted house. We worry about what might pop out at us or what information we might uncover that we don't want to know.
I get it, I've been there. When I first started developing my intuition at the age of 32, I was a hardcore skeptic. The unknown terrified me. But I've learned that this fear can be overcome with a simple practice. The next time you sit down to tap into your intuition, I want you to first acknowledge the fear. Say to it, "I see you fear, I know you're there." Then, visualize placing that fear into an imaginary box or container off to the side. Tell the fear, "You can sit there for a little while, but I'm going to go ahead and do my intuitive work now."
By consciously recognizing the fear and setting it aside, you're taking control of it instead of letting it control you. Over time, as you continue this practice, you'll find that the fear loses its grip and your intuition can flow more freely. I promise that what you discover will not be as scary as your mind has built it up to be. Your intuition is here to guide and support you, not harm you.
Another common fear that blocks intuition is the belief that you're not "special" or "gifted" enough to be truly intuitive. We see psychics and mediums on TV or in person and think, "Well, they have a special gift that I don't. I could never do that." This is a pattern of thinking that we've been conditioned with by society and pop culture.
But the truth is, we all have the same intuitive abilities. Some people may have honed their skills more than others, but the capacity for intuition exists within each and every one of us. It's not a rare "gift" reserved for the chosen few. It's a natural human faculty that we all possess.
To overcome this fear, I want you to start a "No Doubt" notebook. Anytime you have an intuitive hit or experience - something that just can't be explained rationally - write it down in this notebook. Over time, as you build up this evidence of your own intuitive abilities, it will become much harder to doubt yourself. Refer back to this notebook whenever you start to feel unworthy.
I also encourage you to take a few minutes each day to affirm your intuitive gifts. Say out loud, "I am a strong, confident intuitive. It is easy for me to receive intuitive guidance." Do this consistently, and you'll start to shift your mindset from "I can't" to "I can."
The third fear that can block intuition is a bit more subtle - the fear of spiritual extremism. This is when someone becomes so deeply immersed in spirituality that they lose sight of their own humanity. They may start to believe that they alone have access to the "right" spiritual path or teachings, and everyone else is "lost" or "wrong."
This type of spiritual elitism is rooted in fear - the fear of being alone on your journey, the fear of not having all the answers. It leads people to cling to rigid belief systems and demonize anything that falls outside of their narrow worldview. And unfortunately, this fear-based mentality can completely shut down your intuition.
If you find yourself starting to worry obsessively about spiritual concepts like the "end times" or feeling like you have to follow a long list of strict rules to be "good enough," take a step back. Examine where these fears are coming from. Are they genuinely arising from within you, or are they being projected onto you by an external source, like a spiritual teacher or group?
True spirituality is about reconnecting with your authentic self, not submitting to someone else's vision of perfection. If you feel your intuition shutting down due to fear-based spiritual beliefs, it's time to disengage for a while. Focus on grounding yourself in your own inner guidance and reclaiming your innate wholeness. Your intuition will thank you.
Ultimately, the journey of intuitive development is not about conquering fear, but about learning to coexist with it. Fear is a natural part of the human experience, and it will always arise to some degree when we're venturing into the unknown. The key is to not let it control or define us.
By acknowledging our fears, setting them aside when needed, and reconnecting with our inherent worth and intuitive abilities, we can learn to move forward with courage and confidence. It's a lifelong practice, but one that becomes increasingly rewarding the more we engage with it.
So don't be afraid to dive into your intuition. The universe has so much wisdom and guidance to offer you. All you have to do is open yourself up to receive it.
